QuickBooks Tip:
"Close" the Books for Last
Year
Now that
bank accounts have been reconciled and the books are ready (or
almost ready) for your tax preparer -- "Close" the books to
reduce the chance of making an entry to a prior period by
mistake.
From the EDIT dropdown list --> Select PREFERENCES -->
Accounting. Click the Company Preferences tab. In
the Closing Date section, click the Set Date/Password button.
In the Data section, select the date through which you want your
books to be closed (12/31/09). Leave the Password BLANK,
we do NOT recommend a password. Click OK.
Changes can still be made to prior periods but a pop up
warning will appear. Any changes will be reported on the
Closing Date Exception Report; Reports --> Accountant & Taxes
--> Closing Date Exception Report.
Employee Forms are
available at our Links page.
Hint:
The "Earned
Income Credit, W5' form needs to be revised each year.
FYI
- QuickBooks 2007 'expires' Soon
The payroll reporting features and the e-mailing features in QuickBooks 2007 will no longer
work after April 2010.
If you are using payroll and have
QuickBooks Pro 2007, it's time to move up to QBs Pro 2010.
Specials have been popping up for less than $150. We
recommend buying the software disks and NOT downloading the
software.
